I was watching the re-electionist and the neophytes filing their respective Certificates of Candidacy, at the COMELEC National Office on TV. Memories flashed through my mind like an old newsreel. The parades and welcoming of candidates and the kind of celebration like confetti falling from heaven. Then, when the campaign starts, all these candidates for Senators will be loaded with impressive declarations full of promises and praises for the masses, like gold and diamonds.
Naturally, all these sugar-coated speeches accompanied with Jokes and braggadocio more often than not, are swallowed by the masses with reckless abandon and felt they are like diamonds that last forever in the heart of the candidates. But after they crossed the hard road of make-believe and win the election, the masses cannot even get near them as barriers like walls are around them and their securities are like one gigantic thunderstorm ready to release all its power and energy in case the masses charged.
This is what we got from these politicians whom we elected and are supposed to make our lives easy and ensure to provide us with good things of life. But it was indeed paradoxical that the vast majority of the populace was unable to afford even the basic necessities of life, which are food, water, and shelter. The irony is that the public officials holding the reins of government are living in utmost luxuries spending money left and right.
For God’s sake, what is wrong with us? All We have to do is to say that’s enough and it will be stopped. But we are gripped in fear and do not charge forward. Do we still have the patience to take some more even we are miserable as a dog in a house of death? It’s about time people cultivate wisdom from their experiences of the past and be an enlightened adept against those skilled in the principles of persuasion.
Let me focus on these Senators seeking reelections. They were part of those that had scattered an extreme magnitude of destruction and trampled the economy of our country through corruption. They were even opposed to Federalism and insist on holding on to the presidential government because it is their goose that lays the golden egg. These Beelzebubs have milked the cow for too long. Like a balloon that once it is expanded the first time, never shrinks to its original size, these Senators greedily hoard money as a miser does gold.
Think about it, these re-electionist Senators will continue the infamy and the law of the lawless under the presidential government. They refuse to loosen their hold on it to keep the Filipinos under their grip and control them all the time as slaves, courtiers, and factotum. The realm of perpetual darkness is in our hands if it will continue or it will be stopped.
