DOJ, AFP, PNP SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT

The PNP, the AFP, and the DOJ (Department of Justice), exhibiting complacency in handling the security of the State is disturbing. What is always observed is that these Authorities have the habit of waiting for an order from the President before they would take action. This should not be the case; they must immediately confront any threat against the government even with the slightest sign of danger. If there is a duty to act, they must act accordingly. The action must be swift and automatic.

How many times have we seen Trillanes on TV stations made different serious verbal threats and bastardization without letup against PDU30; how many times have we seen ex-CJ Sereno with a propaganda calling the AFP to oust the President; how many times the media maliciously sensationalize every rally against the government staged by the UP students, Bayan Muna, Akbayan, the Catholic priests and their supporters with undemocratic rants and tirades; how many times the Yellows concoct stories and twist the truth to incite people into hatred against the government, and many more.

All of these loud tirades and political rants, coupled with the misinformation and falsehoods extrapolated by the media insinuating that our country is on the verge of collapse so foreign investment will be withdrawn, are at least a crime of Inciting to Sedition and/or Treason. But the PNP, the AFP, and the DOJ, instead of immediately arresting these people then and there, and the DOJ file appropriate cases, they did nothing.

The duty to react and confront the enemy must be cast in stone in the deepest recesses of their minds and soul backed by the impregnable wall of the existing Laws and the Constitution. The Authorities haven’t learned the lesson from the Marawi Seige and could have been wiser this time that we must never be outsmarted again.

How I wish the late DOJ Sec. Raul Gonzales is still alive that DOJ Sec. Menardo Guevarra could have learnt a lesson from him. During the time of Sec. Gonzales, the media tiptoed within the corners of journalism, the PNP and the AFP never had been sluggish, militant rallyists were bombarded with hoses and criminal charges filed when they misstep, and DOJ Officials were all in cadence with the Secretary and no dead woods.

Now, by the authorities’ indifference, the Yellows’ sudden astronomical rise as a serious threat had occasioned much disbelief that they of all things should ascend to such a stature. This surprise is, in retrospect, surprising. Indeed, the authorities could have cut the horn while still growing and now our existence as a sovereign State hangs in the balance.

The challenges to return our country to normalcy and putting the destabilizers behind bars are not inconsiderable. But doing nothing is even more dangerous. Something must be done to reverse the trend.
