FOR
ME, CORRUPTION IS NOT DIFFICULT TO SOLVE. IT’S JUST THAT ALL PAST PRESIDENTS
AND THE PRESENT HAD NO APPETITE TO DO SO. MY EVERY POST HAS ONLY ONE, ONLY ONE
MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNMENT: STOP AND STOP AND STOP CORRUPTION IF YOU HAVE THE
'BALLS TO DO IT.' AM I BEING HEARD? AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO IS FIGHTING EVERYDAY
SHOUTING TO HIGH HEAVENS THAT CORRUPTION MUST BE STOP IMMEDIATELY?
It’s an abomination to think that for 60 years of battling the rampant
corruption in the government, and the problem still hung in limbo up to the
present. 60 years is long enough period for various past presidents with its
heart in the right place not to solve the problem of corruption, or at least,
the scourge of corruption in the country would be curved. Well, what a fantasy
that turned out to be. It’s hardly surprising that more public officials who
corrupt are still at it than are caught. The machinery is all there, the
question is are the past presidents up to the incumbent really want to solve
corruption? I mean, you can spend billions and billions of pesos then catch
nobody if you don’t want to catch anybody. The truth is, there is no general
appetite to undertake the effort and expense of a successful solution to
deliver Corruption-free Philippines. And without a will, where’s the way
forward?
As long as the approach of the government in addressing corruption remains soft
as it has been for decades, which is threats of imprisonment, and the law
enforcement always gas out rather than going for it full range, it is almost
impossible to see the decades-long agony and suffering of the nation and its
citizens changing anytime soon; and the corruptors have always had their hands
of victory raised at the conclusion. As it is said: If you do what you’ve
always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.
I can’t imagine seeing the government taking this kind of punishment from these
corruptors as if conceding to the fight. The government must turn fear into
fire and land a punch that would stave off this stratospheric avalanche coming
at us, and not all the time seen as kind of shrinking violet, shrugging
shoulders, and the eyes are down.
