PRRD addressed
the nation on COVID-19 in a televised message last night at 9 o’clock on March
12 placing Metro Manila on lockdown. This will maintain tight control over the
movement of people into and out of Metro Manila and has strict laws to keep
potential virus-spreaders in line.
It is clear
that PRRD is leaving no stone unturned. His action exemplifies the fastidious
approach taken to combat the outbreak in the entire nation.
I and every
Filipino have to commend the Philippine President's "swift, decisive and
comprehensive measures to contain the Covid-19 outbreak and safeguard the
health of our people. I am confident that under PRRD’s able leadership, the
nation will overcome Covid-19 with strength and fortitude.
We applaud
PRRD’s firm and decisive response, and we are happy to see early indications
that it is beginning to bring the outbreak under control. It is stressed on the
importance of all Filipinos working together to battle such crises.
To say about
being down, it’s a motivator. It lights a fire under us, it reminds us of what
we need to do to get this done. It gives us a little street fighting
enthusiasm.
Let’s be a
ripper that laughs at fear, afraid of nothing. We do not shy away from the
sword; we cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds. This is in keeping with
the idea that you need to be exposed to things that you fear and hate because
that’s where salvation lies, roughly speaking.
Now that the
President has spoken, our duty is to obey and to toe the line. Take a flick at
the concept that “The Strength of the Chain Is in the Weakest Link”. This is
the most suitable proverb that can be used to assess the strength of the
integrity of our country. This means a chain is a row of links connecting to
the other. In other words, the strength and success of battling the Covid-19
depend on the Filipino people.
Accordingly, if
some of us will not support, cooperate, and obey the imprimatur of PRRD, then,
the strength and integrity of our country as a nation against the Covid-19
becomes futile and in vain.
