BBM entered
the Presidential Race with a chip on his shoulder as he was being shadowed by the
reputation of his dad, former Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos. BBM could have easily
folded and failed, instead, the young Marcos grabbed the proverbial bull by the
horns and rode him all the way to lead in a dominant fashion in all kinds of surveys
at a breakneck speed, sprinkling in a highlight here and there that even the
opponents’ growl and teeth were not enough to scare the true believers. At this
point, all we can do is wish BBM the best for what’s to follow and he cannot
help but salivating on his soon-to-be success as the next president of the
Philippines after the great PRRD.
Nevertheless,
presidential contest is often called the theatre of surprises and all because
of its unpredictable character. You may think that you know what will happen in
the upcoming election, but what happens is exactly the opposite. How many times
in the past have we seen the obvious favorite had been defeated that made the
whole world jump from their seats in surprise. Even BBM himself was a victim of
complacency when he lost to Robredo in the vice-presidential race when in fact
he was seen the sure winner. So, do not be complacent because in this digital
revolution magical things happen, if you know what I mean. It's better to look ahead and prepare than to look
back and regret.
