In the Senate hearing yesterday,
February 24, 2020, the abs-cbn stalwarts recited a litany of stories and nodded
by their cohort’s senators about their supposed benevolence that benefited the
public. Of course, if your company is facing death close to its breadth and
getting to the end of life, you will do anything and say everything that sounds
well for the Jury.
Anyhow, what the abs-cbn
stalwarts are doing is cheery as they thought. But the reality is their words
and persistent blowing their own horn have no meaning than just a column of
wind-whipped smoke; it sits still and cold and it only whispers all the same
because the Filipinos knew beforehand they are just living in a fantasy world.
More than that, these stories
which are self-serving are irrelevant, impertinent, and immaterial to the
merits of the key issue determinable that is whether or not their franchise
will be renewed. Therefore, the stories had a ring of desperation and defeat.
The issue of abs-cbn is so
immense that it can’t be grasped in its entirety. Therefore, it has to be
grasped in its specificity, image by image, fact by fact, and what becomes
interesting is to see the specifics within its larger context.
I think the difficult thing for
people to grapple with emotionally about the abs-cbn is how could a
broadcasting company which owes its franchise to the government be so hated and
seen as so one-sided, bias, double-crosser against the Duterte government who
had come to represent not only excellence but hope for the country and its
citizens. Thus, the majority of the Congressmen had come to the conclusion that
it had to be eliminated from the face and memories of broadcasting.
The Congressmen have either lost
confidence that the abs-cbm is fair and impartial, or that they have concluded
it is single-minded just focused on destroying the duly elected President. The
abs-cbn’s rendition of its duty was unimaginable and even if it involves using
syntax and all of the knowledge in the inside that humanity had in order to understand
it, it would always remain incomprehensible.
